Bearcats have good practice week

Bainbridge High School football head coach Ed Pilcher said his team had “a good week of practice” last week, in preparation for this Friday night’s 7:30 p.m. home game against the Cairo High School Syrupmakers at Centennial Field.
“The weather only affected us one day,” Pilcher said. “We had to come off the field Wednesday, but the rest of the week the rain really wasn’t a factor.”
Last Friday night was an open date for the Bearcats, who lost their home opener 33-14 to East Gadsden (Fla.) on Friday, Aug. 24. Pilcher and members of his staff visited Cairo last Friday night, to scout the Syrupmakers’ 21-0 home victory over Thomasville.
“We are pretty healthy,” Pilcher said, in evaluating his team’s practice week. “Defensive end Darryl McGee has a sprained ankle, but we are hoping he will be able to play against Cairo.”
With school out Monday for the Labor Day holiday, Pilcher and his staff put the Bearcats through a 9 a.m. practice session on their campus practice field.
