Lady Cougars win two in Alabama

Coach Erwin Harrell’s Grace Christian Academy Lady Cougars volleyball team won two games in Alabama last week.
They defeated the Dale County Christian School Lady Crusaders three sets to none Friday, August 31 in Ozark, Ala., and edged the Emmanuel Christian School Lady Warriors three sets to two Tuesday, Sept. 4, in Dothan, Ala.
They won the first set 25-13 over the Lady Crusaders and won the second and third sets 25-23.
They dropped the first set 25-21 to the Lady Warriors, won the second set 25-21, lost the third set 25-14, won the fourth set 25-22 and won the fifth set 15-8.
Leading the way against Dale County were Melissa Mills with 10 kills and 16 ace serves, Merrianna Parker with 15 assists and a 100-percent serve percentage, Kendi Castoro with six digs and a 100 percent serve percentage and Kelsey Harrell with six digs.
Leading the way against Emmanuel were Mills with 11 kills and nine ace serves, Parker with 27 assists, Castoro with 19 digs and a 100-percent serve percentage, Harrell with nine kills and Emilee Murr with a 93-percent serve percentage.
The Lady Cats will return to action Friday, Sept. 14, when they host the Central Fellowship Christian School Saints of Robertsdale, Ala., at 5 p.m. at Perry Memorial Gymnasium.
