Carrie Elizabeth Freeman Nisbet, 96, of Bainbridge, entered into rest Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012 at Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.

The graveside funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012 at Oak City Cemetery with Rev. Randy Mosley officiating.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or Bainbridge First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 541, Bainbridge, GA 39818.

Mrs. Nisbet was born March 12, 1916 in Sylvania, GA., the daughter of the late Grover Freeman and Frankie Williams Freeman. She graduated from Georgia Teachers College with a degree in education and received her bachelor’s in education from Georgia Southern College. Mrs. Nisbet taught at Jones Wheat Elementary School and McIntosh County School System prior to retirement. Mrs. Nisbet was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She will always be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and devoted homemaker.

Mrs. Nisbet was preceded in death by her husband, William E. Nisbet; brother, Dr. James C. Freeman; and sisters, Lucy Freeman Fulcher, Grace Freeman Stubbs, Dorothy Freeman Marriotti, and Emmie Freeman Edenfield.

She leaves many wonderful memories with her sons, William E. Nisbet, Jr. and his wife, Barbara, of St. Augustine, Fla. and Samuel E. Nisbet and his wife, Janice, of Amelia Island, Fla.; her 5 granddaughters, Susan Surage, Natalie Parker, Carol Hammond, Mandy Butterly, and Staci Hunt; her 12 great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Virginia Freeman, of Hilton Head, S.C.; and several nieces and nephews.
