Soccer players honored at awards banquet

The Bainbridge Bearcats and Lady Cats soccer programs recognized athletes for a strong 2013 season, during their annual awards banquet Thursday, May 16.
In the boys’ awards, Luis Mejia was named the forward of the year, and J.C. Castro and Courtlind Miller were named the most-improved players of the year. Daniel Provence was named the midfielder of the year, and Dexter Legace was named the most reliable player.
Alex Ward was the newcomer of the year, and Dominic Douglas was the defender of the year.
In the girls’ awards, Amadelia Barrios and Isis Crawford were named the most-improved players of the year. Treesy Hurst received the academic award.
Derrical Williams was the recipient of the newcomer award, and Longeisha Emanuel won the offense award.
Jennifer Becerra received the midfielder award and Paige Braswell took home the hustle award.
The team’s most valuable player was Caitlin Cato.
