The Eighth Annual Deltrice Riles Memorial Golf Tournament will be held Saturday, June 22 at the Donalsonville Country Club.
The tournament was established by Gary Riles in memory of his son Deltrice, who passed away in a trucking accident on March 3, 2005. Deltrice Riles played baseball and football during his time at Bainbridge High School.
Proceeds from the tournament benefit the Deltrice Riles Memorial Scholarship, given each year by his family to a graduating BHS senior who demonstrates strong character, outstanding leadership and concern for others.
Joining Gary Riles to sponsor this year’s tournament is James Butler Jr., a Climax native who played in the NFL between 2005-2012. Butler is also well-known for his work over the years to give back to his home town of Bainbridge and Decatur County.
The tournament will begin June 22 at 8:30 a.m. at the Donalsonville Country Club, located at 6903 Highway 39 South.
The tournament format will be an 18-hole, two-man scramble, with a $50 entry fee for each player. The entry cost includes a round of golf and usage of a golf cart, as well as food and drinks to be furnished on the course.
Prizes will be given for the 1st and 2nd place teams, as well as the player who hits closest to a pin on a specific hole and the player who has the longest drive.
Prizes include Cleveland golf equipment for a Hole in One on Hole 8, a $500 gift card for a Hole in One on Hole 12 and a Kindle Fire tablet computer for a Hole in One on Hole 4.
A special $10,000 cash prize will be offered to anyone who hits a “hole-in-one” on Hole 17.
Everyone who enters the tournament will receive a coupon redeemable for a free golf club.
