A Waycross, Ga., man has been charged in connection with the deaths of two people in Seminole County, according to officials with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
Eliace Marie Smith, 49, and Heber Jettie Bennett Jr., 64, of Donalsonville, Ga., were discovered deceased inside their residence at 8056 Northwood Drive, near Lake Seminole, at approximately 7 a.m. Monday.
Both victims had gunshot wounds, according to the GBI.
On Tuesday, the GBI and other law enforcement agencies in southeast Georgia’s Ware County arrested 47-year-old DanTony Swinson, of Waycross.
Swinson is charged with two counts of murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He is in custody at the Ware County Jail.
Steven Turner, special agent in charge of the GBI’s Thomasville office, said Smith and Bennett had recently moved to Seminole County from Ware County, which is what led investigators to Waycross.
Swinson also reportedly knew the victims, although the GBI is not releasing information about a possible motive at this time.
The Seminole County Sheriff’s Office initially requested the assistance of the GBI in the investigation.
