Chase Harris wins BBQ 5K

Bainbridge High School’s Chase Harris won the Smoke Under the Oaks 5K on Saturday, held at the Bainbridge Country Club as part of a day-long BBQ festival.
The course was run early Saturday morning along the rough grass of three holes of the country club’s golf course, organizer Rob McRae said.
Harris won in a time of 17 minutes, 28.1 seconds. BHS cross country alumnus Eric Juarez finished second overall in a time of 18:22.
Anna Holidman finished third and was the top female runner with a time of 18:23.7. Carly Thomas was the second female finisher and seventh overall with a time of 19:24.
Dre Banks finished fourth in 18:49, while Jack McDermott finished fifth in a time of 19 minutes even.
Sixth was Geb Kiros, 19:19; eighth was Michael Kennett, 19:30; ninth was Brenden Greene, 19:37; and tenth was Tae Ross, 19:45.
Chase’s younger brother, Caleb, finished 14th in a time of 21:08. Their older brother, Kyle, runs cross country for Berry College.
Bainbridge High School cross country runner Paige Braswell was the third top female finisher, and 17th overall, in a time of 22:37.
The inaugural 5K field boasted 75 competitors.
