Services for Maysel Lavelle Horton “Bobbie” Brinkley, 81, of Cairo, will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 16, 2013, at Midway Baptist Church, Cairo. Rev. Tim VanLandingham, Rev. Carl Harrell and Rev. Jim Weaver will officiate. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Cairo. Mrs. Brinkley passed away on Tuesday, August 13, 2013, at Camellia Gardens of Life Care in Thomasville, Ga.
Active pallbearers will be: Jimmy Scarbrough, Bobby Godwin, Cal Bryant, George Thomas, Willard Hinton and Randy Holton. Honorary pallbearers will be Sid Pridgen, Ron Spooner, Marcus Bracewell, and the Deacons of Midway Baptist Church.
Mrs. Brinkley was born on Feb. 19, 1932, in Cairo, to the late Henry J. Horton, Sr., and Lois Barfield Horton. On Sept. 14, 1950, in Camilla ,GA, she married Joe (J.B.) Brinkley. Mr. Brinkley preceded her in death on Dec. 4, 2010. She was a member of Midway Baptist Church.
Survivors include: daughter, Patricia “Patty” A. Brinkley of Cairo; sons and daughter-in- law, Thomas E. “Tommy” and Phyllis Brinkley of Cairo, Kenneth L. “Kenny” Brinkley of Cairo; grandchildren, Jason and Allison Gainous of Summerville, S.C., Chrissy Gainous of Thomasville, Marcus and Heather Brinkley of Whigham, Nick and Holly Brinkley of New Tazewell, Tenn., Kristen Welch of Americus, Ga.; great-grandchildren, Melody and Gabriel Gainous of Summerville, J.J., Jacob, and Joey Harper, all of Thomasville, Kaylynn and Kinsley Brinkley of Whigham, Logan, Amanda and Cameron Brinkley all of New Tazewell, Kara Welch of Cairo, Taylor Welch and Ethan Wilder, both of Butler, Ga.; sisters, Annette Ezell of Cairo, Dean Britt of Thomasville, Agnes Wilson of Pelham; sister-in-law Betty Horton of Thomasville, Sue Brinkley Williams of Orlando, Fla., Opal Brinkley of Cairo; brother-in-law, Ben and Kathy Brinkley of Cairo.
Mrs. Brinkley was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; sisters Thelma H. Ginn, Dorothy Butler, Geneva Avant, Louise Womble; brothers, Jr. Horton, Alton Horton.
Memorials may be made in Mrs. Brinkley’s memory to Halcyon Home, P. O. Box 1838, Thomasville, GA, 31799.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 15, 2013, from 6-8 p.m. at Clark Funeral Home.
