Martha “Vida Leigh” Barbree, 88, of Jacksonville, Fla., and formerly of Bainbridge, passed away Monday, Aug. 19, 2013 at Regents Park of Jacksonville.
The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 24, 2013 at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel in Bainbridge. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memory Gardens with her grandsons serving as active pallbearers.
The family will receive friends Friday, Aug. 23, 2013 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on at Ivey Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Community Hospice of Northeast Florida, 4266 Sunbeam Road, Jacksonville, FL 32257.
Mrs. Barbree was born March 25, 1925 in Climax, the daughter of Charles Owen Worn and Rosa Estelle Layton. Mrs. Barbree was a native of Bainbridge, worked as a bookkeeper, and was a homemaker. She moved to Jacksonville about 8 years ago, where she lived out her life. She was a member of Maranatha Baptist Church while in Bainbridge, and Peace Presbyterian Church of Southside Blvd. in Jacksonville.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Alto Cullen Barbree.
Survivors include her children, Gail Barbree of Ochlocknee, Ga., Linda Haston of Jacksonville, Ray Barbree of Tallahassee, Fla,, and Pam Wilson of Sarasota, Fla.; her sisters, Chris Morris and Geneva Owens; her brother, Tommy Worn; her 8 grandchildren, her 14 great-grandchildren; her 4 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
