Lady ‘Cats beat Thomasville, 9-3

The Bainbridge High School Lady Bearcats’ softball team rebounded from a loss last week to win big against Thomasville on Tuesday.
The Lady Bearcats beat the Lady Bulldogs 9-3 at a game played at the Bearcat Diamonds.
BHS scored six runs in the first three innings, building a sizable early lead. Brooke Bates pitched four shutout innings, striking out seven Lady Bulldogs and allowing no hits.
Bates helped her own cause with an RBI single in the first inning. In the second inning, Caitlyn Dunlap hit an RBI double, scoring Lindsey Griner. Later in the inning, Dunlap stole home plate to score a run.
In the third inning, Meagan Harrison was hit by a pitch and put on first base. She advanced to second on a passed ball and then stole third. Anna Barber walked, and then Harrison came around to score on a error by the Thomasville catcher. Bates walked, then Barber scored on a ground out by Phillips. Lindey Grinner doubled to score Bates.
The Lady ‘Cats added another run in the fourth and two more in the fifth, the latter coming on a two-RBI double by Shea Williams.
Meanwhile, Thomasville was only able to score two runs in the fifth and one more in the seventh.
Lindsey Griner doubled twice, in the third and sixth innings, providing two of the Lady Cats’ 10 hits in the game.
Bates was walked twice, and Laura Griner had two singles, a walk and a run scored.
Harrison, who was hit by a pitch on her first three plate appearances, crossed home plate twice in the game. Harrison also stole three bases.
Dunlap and freshman Taylor Swanner combined to pitch the last three innings of the game for the Lady ‘Cats.
