According to the media, Punxsutawney Phil didn’t see his shadow on Feb. 2, a good sign that there will be an early spring.

We in Climax have another sign of an early spring, the first planning meeting for the annual Ham and Egg Supper!

Flora Nell Hughes, chair of the Ham and Egg committee, announced this week that the first meeting will be held Monday Feb. 15 at the Climax Community Club beginning at 6 p.m.

All volunteers are asked to attend this meeting to familiarize themselves with the job they will be doing, and any supplies needed.

The proceeds from the annual Ham and Egg Supper benefit the upkeep of Cedar Grove cemetery. If you have family members interred at Cedar Grove cemetery and would like to help with the supper, come to this meeting for more details.

Not only does the Ham and Egg supper help Cedar Grove, it brings family, friends, and neighbors, out for the first event in Climax to open the Spring season, and if it is an election year, politicians come out of the woodworks, anyone that is anyone is there or they have a representative there eating Ham and eggs under the “Chittlin” barn! So mark your calendar and come out on the 15th for the first planning meeting.
