The annual Bainbridge Kiwanis Club 5K and 10K River Run originally scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 9, but postponed because of high water at the Earle May Boat Basin, has been rescheduled for Saturday, January 27.
Registration, which begins at 7:30 a.m., is $25 and the races begin at 9 a.m. The course will take runner along the Flint River, through the campground and along a wooded nature trail. USA Track and Field has certified the 10K run.
Run director Paul Fryer points out that the featured 10K allows runners to experience the challenge of a very steep, although short, hill climb just past the four mile point.
“We will present special awards to overall male and female winners of the 5K and 10K runs,” Fryer said. “We will also give first, second and third place awards in each age group. The runs annually draw participants from Southwest Georgia, Southeast Alabama and Florida. There will also be drawings for door prizes.”
Proceeds from the River Run will benefit the Bainbridge Kiwanis Club’s community service projects for local children. Kiwanis’ number one project is serving children throughout the United States and the world.
