A simple wrong number text announcing the birth of Cason Knox Lashley at Bainbridge Memorial Hospital has gone viral after the conversation was posted on Facebook and Twitter.

Teresa Lashley, Cason’s grandmother, sent out a group text announcing his birth Saturday morning. Lashley had two numbers in her phone for her niece and included both of them in the group message; not knowing that one of those numbers now belonged to Dennis Williams.

“We were texting everybody and letting them know the baby was coming,” Lashley said.

The first message announced that they were at the hospital and that Cason would be coming today. Williams quickly answered saying “Congrats lol but I think someone got the wrong number.”

He was never removed from the group text though and next came a picture of baby Cason being held soon after being born.

Williams responded to the picture saying “Well I don’t know Yall but me and the boys will be thru to take pictures with the baby.”

The conversation continued from there and Williams asked for the room number saying they had gifts.

“He responded to the text and said that he was coming with a gift,” Lashley said. ”I never expected him to come.”

Williams and his brother Deorick did come though and they brought the promised gifts with them.

“He brought a gift bag with diapers, baby bottles and pacifiers,” Lashley said. “We were very grateful, very thankful.”

Lashley then posted a picture of the brothers at the hospital on Facebook. The brothers took it a step further though and posted screen shots of the conversation on Facebook and Twitter. That post has now been shared almost 160,000 times on Facebook and retweeted almost 25,000 times on Twitter.
