Coach Tom Barlow’s Grace Christian Academy Cougars baseball team advanced to the second round of the Georgia Independent Schools Association State Class AA Tournament with two first round victories over Lagrange College in Lagrange.
The Cougars won the first game 24-3 and won the second game 13-6. The winning pitchers were left-hander Noah Thomas and right-hander Michael Mills.
In the second round the Cougars traveled to Monticello to take on the Piedmont Academy Cougars in a double header. They dropped the first game 10-0 and were eliminated 10-5 in the nightcap.
Top Grace Cougar performers in addition to Thomas and Mills against Piedmont were Brad Spooner, Lindsey Duke, Clay Wells, John York, Jared Duke, Parker Goodson, Seth Parker and Gabe Parus.
Coach Barlow said he thought his team hustled and played hard in all four postseason games.
