Bearcat fans will have the opportunity to watch a football practice at Centennial Field next Friday, Aug. 12, for the Bearcat Fan Day.
The inter-squad scrimmage and practice will give Bearcat fans an opportunity to watch the players go through warm ups, perform drills and compete against each other. Announcers will be in the press box to guide and call the event.
“We’re going to introduce all the kids and try to get the fans to know them all,” coach Jeff Littleton said. “It’s a chance to see how much better they have gotten since last year.”
The fan day event will kick off at 6 p.m. and run until about 7:30 p.m. There is no admission fee, but Littleton is asking fans to consider bringing a box of Oxyclean washing powder to help with washing uniforms throughout the season.
The Bearcats are preparing for their return to Region 1-AAAAA after two seasons in Region 1-AAAA.
Friday, Aug. 5, they will travel to Valdosta for a scrimmage against Lowndes (1-AAAAAAA) at 8 p.m. The teams will play three quarters with their starters, and a fourth quarter for the backups.
Thursday, Aug. 18, Bainbridge will travel to Godby (Florida) for another scrimmage at 7 p.m.
This all builds up to the home opener against Lee County (1-AAAAAA) Friday, Aug. 26, at Centennial Field. Kickoff is 7:30 p.m. Look for an in-depth preview of the game in the Wednesday, Aug. 24, issue of the Post Searchlight
