Ruby was like a grandma to everyone she met. Just like a grandma, she enjoyed cooking and making jelly for those she loved so dearly. When not in the kitchen, Ruby could be found in the garden taking in the beauty of flowers in bloom or sitting on the porch shelling peas. Even though she enjoyed shelling peas, Ruby decided to try out a pea sheller but waited until she was 90 years old to do it.

Survivors include her husband, Noah W. Black; her children, Frances Salter of Albany, Robert Simmons and his wife, Sue, of Wetumpka, Ala., and Kathy Reynolds and her husband, Byron, of Roanoke, Ala.; her grandchildren, Gary Salter, Chris Amacker, Sonya White, Ronnie Simmons, Byron Reynolds, Dr. Katherine Murphy, and Dr. Rebecca Thompson; her great-grandchildren, Ryleigh, Patrick, and Damian Amacker, Caleb and Holden Posey, Heather Simmons, Harli Johnson, and Will Salter; and her great-great-grandchildren, Oakley Posey and Madelyn Johnson. Ruby was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Lois King, Ted Tedder, Willard Tedder and Bobby Tedder.
