Eighth grade football dominates TCC

The Bainbridge eighth grade football team took down Thomas County Central 34-8 Thursday evening at Centennial Field.

Bainbridge got on the board in the first quarter when running back Caleb McDowell hustled 38 yards for the score, followed by Rashod Broadnax with a 2-point conversion.

The Yellow Jackets responded quickly on the next drive, scoring to tie the game 8-8.

Broadnax scored on a 51-yard run with just over half a minute left in the first quarter. Jvon Lee failed on the 2-point conversion, but Bainbridge had the lead at 14-8.

Broadnax continued to score the next two touchdowns before halftime, the first a 48-yard scamper and the second a 37-yard run that put Bainbridge up 28-8. The first 2-point conversion failed, but the second was completed on a pass from quarterback Quayde Hawkins to Blaze Allen.

With nine seconds left in the first half, Mike Conder scored on a 66-yard touchdown pass from McDowell. The 2-point conversion pass was incomplete.

Bainbridge held the score at 34-8 while no points were scored by either team in the second half.

The eighth grade Bearcats return to action next Thursday at Cairo.
