Mike Binion, director of the Tired Creek Lake project in Grady County, brought Bainbridge Lions Club members up to date Wednesday on the project’s progress.
“The lake contains 950 acres, and three creeks feed into it,” Binion said in opening his comments. “There are four boat ramps and an earthen dam with drain pipes.”
Binion, who formerly worked in Decatur County as Game and Fish Division Ranger, said the lake planners and developers followed all U.S. Army Corp of Engineers regulations and guidelines in developing the lake.
Binion added the lake that has an earthen dam with drain pipe sand has been stocked with 4,000 fish and is the only regulation lake in Grady County. He became lake director last December.
“U.S. Army Corp of Engineers regulations are pretty strict, and that is a good thing,” Binion said. “We are adhering to them well. The safety of our boaters and fishermen are our number one priority.”
Binion told the Lions that U.S. Representative Sanford Bishop was very instrumental in helping the Corp of Engineers and Grady County purchase the land for the lake that can be easily accessed by both Grady County and Decatur County citizens.
