Proposed merger between ABAC, BSC has great potential

Next Wednesday morning, the Georgia Board of Regents will vote on merging Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College and Bainbridge State College.
We at The Post-Searchlight support the decision to merge ABAC with Bainbridge State College. The fact that the Board of Regents is even considering such a merger shows just how strong and successful a school Bainbridge State College has become.
Such a merger makes sense for an agriculture-based community like Bainbridge-Decatur County. The recommended consolidation proposes to expand ABAC’s specialized-degree programs that will meet the needs of agriculture in south Georgia and around the state. This means more opportunities for students in our area to earn bachelor’s degrees and make an immediate impact in their profession.
Congratulations to the current and former staff, administration and students at BSC for building a college that is being considered for such an opportunity.
