A new face will be appearing on the sidelines, baselines, and foul areas of all levels of Bainbridge sports. Aaron Brown of Charleston, South Carolina has been hired to be the new full-time athletic trainer at Bainbridge High School.
Brown is currently finishing up his senior year at Erskin College in South Carolina and will be joining the Bainbridge staff during the summer after his graduation.
“He’s the kind of guy that you want working with your children,” said Bainbridge Athletic Director Stan Killough. “If I had a child here, he’s the kind of guy I want working here.”
Brown will arrive in Bainbridge during the summer, and will hit the ground running immediately during summer workouts and events.
Brown ended up applying for the job through luck and chance. His fiancée is the current athletic trainer at Thomas County Central, and through the grapevine she heard about the opening. Brown applied and was hired.
“I want to give all glory to god,” said Brown. “It’s going to be a challenge, but I really enjoy challenges.”
Brown is a point guard at Erskin and wants to be able to give back through sports. He wants to be able to not only keep players healthy, but to get the younger players on the right track at an early age. He said that it’s important to teach kids the right way to work out when they’re just getting into it. His enthusiasm is noticeable, and Killough has already recognized his energy.
“When you meet him, the guy is so enthusiastic,” said Killough, “He’s so excited to be here.”
Browns hire comes after months of the position being open after the departure of Bainbridge’s last trainer.
“It’s an important position,” said Killough, “with a school this size we need someone on our campus that can take care of them (athletes) so I commend our board (of education) on being committed to having a trainer.”
