The Bearcat and Lady Cat tennis team each picked up a key region victory on Saturday as they swept Warner Robins.
Neither team lost a set to Demons. The Lady Cats lost a combined two games in the five matches and the Bearcats only dropped five games total.
“Anytime you have to ride a bus for three hours to get up and play a region match and leave that early on a Saturday, you worry that your kids might be stiff or they might not be mentally ready,” head coach Amy Thomas said. “They definitely rose to the occasion and going in our next region match 2-0 is certainly something that is going to motivate us.”
The Lady Cats and Bearcats entered the season with multiple questions following the graduation of key players from last year’s lineups. With only five matches remaining before the region tournament they have found their grove and a consistent line-up that has led to success on the court.
“I think they have both exceeded my expectations so far,” Thomas said.
“In the beginning, we knew that things were going to be different. This year everybody is just really working hard and we all have the same goal. Different group of kids, same goal, a region championship.”
