James Walter Fyie, Jr., 88, of Bainbridge, Ga., passed away Saturday, April 01, 2017.

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 08, 2017, at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Eldon Eckard officiating. Interment will be at Roselawn Memory Gardens with the Baraca Sunday school serving as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Jim was born May 25, 1928, in Webster Groves, Missouri, the son of James Walter Fyie and Lillie Willheight Fyie. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and was a retired switchman with Bell Telephone. He was a member of First Baptist Church, the Baraca Sunday School Class, and the Telephone Pioneers of America. Jim enjoyed fishing and gardening.

Survivors include his sons Mark Fyie and his wife Beverly, of Texas, Mathew Fyie and his wife Mary, of Ohio; daughters Peggy Fyie, of New Mexico, Giselle Carothers and her husband Brian, of Michigan; sister Betty Hopp, of New Jersey and nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. James was preceded in death by his loving wife Gloria S. Fyie and his parents.
