Brother Ronnie “Dez” Harrison Sr., passed on October 23, 2017, at his home in McCrayville, Ga. Funeral Services will be Sunday, October 29 at 3 pm at Mt. Ararat P.B. Church with burial to follow at Mt. Ararat Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Saturday, October 28, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Chandler’s Funeral Home’s Chapel.
Ronnie Harrison was born to the late Abraham Harrison, Sr. and Mother Florene Harrison on July 5, 1956. Dez, as he was affectionately called, graduated from Bainbridge High School in 1974. He earned his degree in Theology while serving in the United States Navy and became a licensed minister under the leadership of Reverend T.L. Geter.
Dez accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age, and joined the Mt. Ararat PB Church, where he became an active member. He enlisted in the United States Navy on January 29, 1979, where he served as an Aviation Storekeeper Third Class AK3. He received a medical honorable discharge on March 16, 1981.
Those who will mourn his loss and forever cherish his memory, two sons: Jeffrey Bunion of Havana, Fla. and Ronnie Harrison, Jr. of Tallahassee, Fla.; one daughter: Nicole Bunion of Tallahassee; loving mother: Florene Harrison of McCrayville; brothers: Abraham Harrison, Jr. (Mary), Gary Harrison (Karen) and Darrell Harrison (Dorothy) all of McCrayville; sister: Diane D. Moore of McCrayville; grandchildren: JaKayden, Ava, Amarion and Trinity; grandmother: Ida Swain of McCrayville; aunts: Lillie Pease and Louvenia Jones both of Havana; Betty Simmons of Whigham, Ga. Geraldine Simmons of Miami, Fla. and Rev. Varmell Harrison of Fayettville, NC; uncles: Rev. Simon Simmons, Jr. (Roberta), Elijah Simmons, Rev. Moses Harrison (Freddie) all of Havana; Rev. Jimmy Simmons of Attapulgus, Ga., Bonnel Harrison (Rudean) of Tallahassee, and Clifford Simmons of McCrayville; great uncle: Michael of Cincinatti, Ohio, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his sisters: Sharon Laster-Glenn and Dianne Harrison. Chandler’s Funeral Home, Inc. of Attapulgus is in charge of the arrangements. 229-465-3828
