Savannah Padgett recently represented Georgia 4-H in the fashion revue competition at the Western National Roundup January 4-7 in Denver, Colorado, where she placed 3rd.
Padgett is currently enrolled at ABAC in Tifton, where is she working on completing her core studies before transferring to UGA to obtain a degree in fashion merchandising. While studying at ABAC, she became a member of ABAC Collegiate 4-H and a 4-H volunteer in Tift County.
This was not Padgett’s first time placing in the fashion revue section of the competition. Last summer, she placed 1st in fashion revue at the Georgia 4-H State Congress in Atlanta advancing her to Nationals.
Padgett constructed her competition ensemble for the State Congress Competiton. She designed a black fitted skirt with an invisible zipper, red sleeveless blouse, black jacket with lined sleeves, pockets and a button.
The competition was judged on an oral presentation, appearance/fit of the garment and responses to the judge’s questions, which represented 80% of total score. Self-confidence, poise, movement and modeling in the public fashion show represented 20% of total score.
In addition to sewing, she has competed in various cooking competitions with 4-H at the State level as well as being a member of the Decatur County 4-H Archery team for 8 years. During her senior year of high school Padgett was elected to the Georgia 4-H State Board of Directors where she served as the Southwest Georgia Representative.
