Cougars, Lady Cougars beat SGA on home court

Both the Grace Christian Academy Cougars and Lady Cougars claimed wins over Southwest Georgia Academy Monday night, a great start to the teams’ last week of regular season play.
The boys won 73-55 and the girls won 51-39.
The Cougars led after every quarter, scoring 18 in the first, 16 in the second, 20 in the third and 19 in the fourth.
Jaylen Jones had a monster night at the basket, pouring in 29 points. He was 9-of-20 from the field, nailed two 3-pointers and remained clutch at the free throw line for another 9 points. Jones also grabbed 7 total rebounds and had 3 steals.
Sam McRae wasn’t far behind with 21 points and 9 total rebounds. He hit three 3-pointers.
Jared Duke had 7 points, Branch Austinson had 6 points, and De’Andre Rogers and Clay Wells both had 5 points. Wells and Duke also grabbed 5 rebounds each.
The Lady Cougars had a wide assortment of players that scored on their way to a 51-39 win.
Emillia Woodrum led the way with a 15-point night, also recording 2 steals against the Warriors. Mallie Andrews, Carly Godwin and Caroline Wells all had 7 points, Kate McRae had 4 points, Lainey McRae, Mary Glenn Warr and Ella Harrell all had 3 points and Pritchett added 2 points to the board.
Kate McRae grabbed 8 rebounds and 3 assists, Wells and Lainey McRae had 3 rebounds and Andrews, Warr and Pritchett each had 2 rebounds. Andrews also had 3 steals.
The Cougars and Lad Cougars play again Thursday at Sherwood.
The girls tip off at 6 p.m. and the boys at 7:30 p.m. Their regular season wraps up Friday against Byrne at home.
