The Climax Pisgah Community Neighborhood Watch had a meet and greet on Saturday, March 3, at Pisgah Church.
Investigator Redell Walton of Decatur County Sheriff’s Office introduced himself as the new neighborhood watch coordinator. He discussed the important roles that each community member takes being a part of a neighborhood watch. He also included helpful safety tips to some of the “junior” members on how to handle dangerous situations. He told them to “be on the look out and always report anything suspicious to an adult.”
Investigator Walton addressed questions and concerns from the group in an open discussion. Some concerns addressed were littering, speeding, animal control issues and ATVs on the highway. Investigator Walton indicated that these concerns would be monitored.
In December 2016, there was a string of home burglaries, and through the help of concerned neighbors with watchful eyes, the crooks where apprehended. At this time the community came together and officially decided to form The Pisgah Community Neighborhood Watch. If you are interested in beginning a neighborhood watch in your area or becoming a member please contact your local sheriff’s department.
