Elizabeth Kirkland, a senior at Bainbridge High School, placed first place in the Southwest Georgia RESA for her article “Boys Will Be Boys” that she submitted to the Young Georgia Author’s Competition.
The purpose of the Young Georgia Authors (YGA) writing competition is “to encourage students to develop enthusiasm for and expertise in their writing, to provide a context to celebrate their writing successes, and to recognize student achievement in arts and academics.”
Each school in the county submitted grade level winners and the district RESA selected one winner per grade level from within our thirteen county region.
Kirkland was selected as the 12th grade region winner from all submitted works. Her entry will be submitted to the state level to compete with entries from other area RESAs.
