Betty Johnson Godwin, 76, of Climax, Ga., passed away Wednesday, June 20, 2018.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 21, 2018 at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Grubbs officiating.  Private interment will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery.

Betty Loy Johnson was born October 3, 1941 in Gadsden County, Fl., the daughter of James Maxwell Johnson and Evelyn Mae Dykes. She was a graduate of Quincy High School and worked as a CNA with Miller County Nursing Home and Heritage Health Care in Tallahassee until her retirement. On March 9, 2007 she married Leon Godwin and became a part of the Climax Community. Betty was of the Baptist Faith.

Betty was a woman of many talents, with her abilities in the kitchen topping the list. She was such a good cook that she enjoyed success in two separate restaurant ventures. When she wasn’t preparing a meal for others to enjoy, you could probably find her at a favorite fishing hole. Betty treasured time spent with family, especially her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Leon Godwin of Climax; her children, Robert Givens and his wife, Andrea, William Givens and his wife, Anita, and  Lee Godwin and his wife, Tammi all of Bainbridge, Ga.; her brother Maxwell Johnson and his wife Donna of Tallahassee; her grandchildren, Brittany, Taylor, Christopher, James, Tina, Nick,  Colton, Kerston, Alex, Taylor C., Tyler, Ashley, Wesley, and Travis; her great grandchildren, Hampton Rhett, Brock, Dustin, Cayden, Rylan, Adryanna, Arryanna, Chevy, Kason, Carter, Weston, Tori, Walker, Lexion and Trenton.  Betty was preceded in death by her children, Alvin Johnson and Rhonda Kay Givens and her sister, Annie Mae McQuaig.
