The Silver award marks the second tier in the National Quality Award program and is given to healthcare centers that have continued to learn and develop effective approaches in an effort to improve performance and healthcare outcomes. In order to be considered for the award, the Community was required to provide a thorough assessment of their systematic approaches and the deployment of these approaches. The Silver award guidelines are based on the Baldrige Health Care Criteria for Performance Excellence, part of the Baldrige Excellence framework that is designed to empower an organization to reach goals, improve results and become more competitive.

The AHCA and NCAL developed the National Quality Award Program to improve the quality of care in America’s skilled nursing centers and assisted living communities by providing a pathway for providers of long-term care to move toward performance excellence. The program offers three progressive tiers of distinction, Bronze, Silver, and Gold. Facilities must earn an award at each level to qualify for the next level.
