Bainbridge City Manager Chris Hobby said the Hurricane Michael devastated Bainbridge.
“The only way to describe the damage is apocalyptic,” Hobby said in a text this morning as he and other city officials began to access the damage.
“Most every street is blocked. Trees and power lines are down over the entire city. The entire city is without power. Georgia Power says it will be several days before power is fully restored.”
He said the downtown area looks like a war zone.
“Roofs are gone, awnings have been ripped down, windows are shattered. It’s beyond description.”
Georgia Power updated its web site showing outages at 6 Thursday morning. The company has approximately 200,000 customers without power, and is working to begin the restoration process as soon as it is safe.
