The Bainbridge Middle School eighth grade basketball teams closed out their season Thursday at the Decatur County Coliseum with big wins against MacIntyre Park.

The Bearcats beat the Bulldogs 50-19 and the Lady Cats beat the Lady Bulldogs 42-12. The win for the boy’s teams marks the end to an undefeated season. The eighth grade Bearcats led the entire game, and were led in scoring by KJ Cochran with 11 points.

The boys finished 13-0. Ten of the 13 wins this season were by double figures. The team played relentless defense this season and gave opposing teams trouble with intense full court pressure.

The team had big wins against quality opponents such as Colquitt County and Pelham. This was Coach Heith Maxwell’s 19th basketball team since he has worked in Decatur County.

“I have been fortunate enough to coach other teams that have had great, undefeated seasons, but this was the best defensive team I have ever coached,” said Maxwell.

The eighth grade cats had dominant wins this season against Cairo, Thomas County Central, Early County, Brooks County, and Thomasville City.
