Cub Scout Pack 519 recently went to the Atlanta Area Zoo for the nightcrawler adventure.
They got to go behind the scenes and see the kitchen that they make the food for the 1,200 residents of the zoo. The pack got a personal tour from a zoo education specialist, giving them a rich history of the zoo and its future plans for the African residents.
They also got to spend the night in the famous treehouse and were woken up by the lemur monkeys with their chatter and calls while they were eating their breakfast. The scouts and a couple of adult leaders braved the treetop adventure with harness and zip-lines.
“It was great to see our scouts overcome their fear and soar through the sky on the zip-line,” said pack leader Margueritte Jackson.
Bear scout Conner Mclendon was quoted as saying, “Best day ever!”
Jackson said the pack had a late cancellation of one of the families, and in scout spirit they reached out to the Atlanta Area Council to find a replacement family to fill our unused tickets.
The Rotary Club of Bainbridge paved the way for this family to go.
“We made new friendships and hope that our new friends will join in on a camp out soon,” said Jackson.
