Morningside Baptist Church recently welcomed their new music minister, Dan Riordan and his wife, Laurie to their ministry.
Riordan said he has been in music ministry for 40 years and most recently served at First Baptist Church in Hampton, Georgia. He had been praying for God to direct and lead him wherever he was called, which was when he received a call from Morningside.
Riordan sent in his resume and soon was offered the position. He has an extensive background in music education and ministry and is ready to bring that knowledge to the church. He completed his undergraduate degree at Mercer University where he studied music and composition. He then went to Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas and finally ended with an education specialist degree at Nova Southeastern University in Florida.
Riordan said he has a few ideas he has gathered over the years that he would like to incorporate at the church, but the biggest thing he has been praying for is that God works through the music and him to lead others to Christ. He wants God to help him join in the program that already exists and just add more creativity to the mix.
“I trust in the Lord,” Riordan said. “Music combined with other art forms is powerful and works with the mind, body and heart.”
Riordan is hoping that God works through him as a person of Christ to lead others in whatever way he sees fit.
Riordan is excited to join the community and begin his new position and Morningside is as equally excited to have him join their church family.
