Gena Leigh Wilson was born December 27, 1949 in Bainbridge, Ga., the daughter of Durward and Sedell Geheber Wilson. She was a graduate of Bainbridge High School, Class of 1968. Gena served the Climax community for 10 years as the secretary of Climax Elementary School. She married Jack Brinson and as they say, “The rest is history.” Gena was a member of First United Methodist Church.
Gena was particular about things: her hair, her house & yard, and her boys. She made sure the house was in order and the yard appeared to have been ironed. (In fact, some noted the Brinson yard was clean on the morning after the hurricane.) Her sweet and gentle spirit drew every stray animal in the area to her home where they were pampered daily. The boys were always her main focus. Gena was the calm in the midst of the storm and she enjoyed every moment being “that mama”.
Survivors include her husband of 42 years, Jack Brinson; and her sons, John Brinson & Linda, and Jim Brinson and his wife, Bambi. In addition to her parents, Gena was preceded in death by her sister, Linda Wilson.
