Joy Jinks to speak at SRTC Bainbridge this Thursday

On the evening of Thursday, September 12th, author Joy Sloan Jinks will speak on the topic of Dynamic Aging at the SRTC – Bainbridge Wellness Center. This event is open to the public and presented free of charge by the Division of Economic Development at SRTC – Bainbridge.
Joy Sloan Jinks is a native of Colquitt, Ga. She is known for her leadership in her community and is the co-founder of the very successful Swamp Gravy, the Official Folk Life Play of Georgia. She has served as Chair of the Chamber of Commerce, President of the Colquitt/Miller Arts Council and Founder and Chair of the Community Development Corporation. In each of these positions, she has made a lasting impact on her community. Her most recent role has been as author of the book, “Dynamic Aging, I Intend to Live Forever… So Far, So Good.”
She is widely sought-after as an entertaining and insightful speaker on the topic of aging. During her presentation, she will be engaging the audience is what it means to be considered elderly. “When is old, old?” asks Jinks. “How can we maintain a positive attitude and outlook? How can we continue to be active and engaged under any circumstances? What are the attitudes and habits that will keep us young at heart?”
To begin to answer these questions, she will be pulling from three chapters of her book for the talk: Pay Attention, Have Fun and Leave a Legacy. To illustrate each topic, she will tell lively stories from her own experience.
Jinks’ presentation begins at 6 pm on Thursday, September 12th, in Room 961 of the Student Wellness Center, which is located at 2500 East Shotwell Street, Bainbridge, GA 39819.
