On May 11, the new office for Dr. Shawn Surratt and Nurse Practitioners Brittany Tyus and Angie Tyus, will open at 920 West Street adjacent to Care 360. It will be called The Bridge.

Surratt has been employed by Memorial Hospital and Manor for 15 years, with offices in Amelia Medical Plaza. The new practice will continue to offer the same family practice medical services as before, with the addition of esthetic medical spa services. The office will also make use of Telehealth facilities for those who prefer or are unable to come in to the office.

It will accept most medical insurance, as well as Medicare, and new patients are welcome.

Office hours are 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 5 p.m., Mon thru Thursday and Friday 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Although the office opens May 11, and will be staffed with the nurse practitioners, Dr. Surratt will begin there June 1. The number is 229-400-0498.

Dr. Surratt, while employed by the hospital, often worked in the emergency department, and he hopes to be able to continue to do that. He also serves as Medical Director with Kindred Hospice and works with the Bainbridge Bearcats, giving physicals for the athletes. He continues to serve his country with the U.S. Air Force Reserves one weekend per month and two weeks in the summer.

Cristi Surratt RN, wife of Dr. Surratt, who also will work in the office, says they are seeing this as a good opportunity for developing a new practice.

“We have four children and love Bainbridge,” said Surratt. “This new plan may give the family a more flexible schedule.”
