Susie Margaret Howard, 96, of Lawrenceville, Ga., passed away Sunday, May 10, 2020.

 

Due to the ongoing concerns regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, a celebration of life will be held at a later date. Interment will be at Oak City Cemetery.

Susie Margaret Josey was born April 4, 1924 in Bainbridge, Ga., the daughter of Monroe and Effie Kelley Josey. She married Curtis Howard and together they built a life together spanning 53 years. Margaret was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

 

Margaret would tell you anyone could have a nice house, but a home was a different story. She worked hard to build a home she was proud of for the family she adored. Margaret loved unconditionally and lived every day putting others first. She was a great cook known especially for her collard greens, creamed corn, and chocolate cakes.

 

Survivors include her daughter, Suzanne (David) Sykes of Lawrenceville; her son-in-law, Kenneth Rentz of Sapulpa, OK; her siblings, Myrtle (Comer) Fowler, Mary Inlow, Rusty (Gwen) Josey; her grandchildren, Bo (Shelly) Rentz, Sonya (Scott) Price, Leslie Jackson, Blake (Ashley) Midler, Alex Midler, and Austin Sykes; her great-grandchildren, Lee (Brandy) Joyner, Becca (Marcus) Corey, Sarah (Corbin) Grayson, Brady Joyner, Trey Rentz, Haley (Mikey) Morgan, Jessica (Geoffrey) Freeman, Josh (Cammie) Price, Joe (Tessa) Price, Emily Price, Philip Jackson, Morgan Jackson, Daniel Jackson, Maggie Midler, and Genevieve Midler; a multitude of great-great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and her beloved extended family from Life Care, Shay (Polly) Jones and Tanya (Patty) Johnson. In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Curtis Howard; her daughters, Betty Joyce Rentz and Patsy June Howard; her siblings, Willard Josey and Myola Powell; her sister-and brothers-in law, Geneva Josey, Earl Powell, and Leroy Inlow; and her granddaughter, Sharon Joyner.
