Carolyn Wright was born March 11, 1939 in Bainbridge, Ga., the daughter of James and Essie White Wright. She married Cecil Butler in 1958 and they made their home in Bainbridge. Carolyn worked at ITT for over thirty years and was a member of West Street Baptist Church.

“Country come to town”, “tough as nails” and “wide open all the time” are a few phrases that describe Carolyn. She loved life and loved her people. Carolyn cared for many children over the years in the church nurseries at Fellowship Baptist and Colquitt Baptist. Her kitchen always had a batch of jelly in the making or something being canned. She enjoyed gospel sings, reading and word puzzles. When she traveled, her favorite place to visit was the mountains.

Survivors include her children, Wayne & Melody Butler of Bainbridge and Andy & Patricia Butler of Bushnell, Fl.; her brother, Charles Wright and his wife, Gladys, of Tennessee; her grandchildren, Felix, April and Melanie; her five great-grandchildren; and several nieces & nephews. In addition to her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband; her son, Edward Butler; and her siblings, Raymond, Leon, Carlton, Jewell, Elon and Eulon.
