A couple of races in the June primary election came to a head Tuesday night.
The race for Decatur County Sheriff between Democratic candidates Wiley Griffin (Incumbent) and David Cutchin ended with Griffin winning 2,110-1,111. Republican Sheriff candidate John William Kirkus ran unopposed and received 1,173 votes.
The Board of Education, District 5 race between Brandon Conley and Jenn Nichols saw Conley winning 469-223. Incumbents Kelvin Bouie and Winston Rollins ran unopposed.
Other unopposed races included Maggie Rentz Smith (I) for Chief Magistrate, Heather Lanier (I) for Superior Court Judge, David A. Kendrick (I) for State Court Judge, Eric L. Gay for Probate Judge, J. Kevin Chason (I) for Superior Court Chief Judge, Cecilia Willis (I) for Clerk of Super Court, Mark Harrell (I) for Tax Commissioner, Kenny Hollis (I) for Coroner, Steve Brock (I) for County Commission District 2, Dennis Brinson (I) for County Commission District 3, Bobby Barber, Jr. for County Commission District 5 (Republican), and Johnnie Mae Livingston for County Commission District 5 (Democrat).
The decision to renew SPLOST was voted “Yes” by voters 3,109-1,547.
Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3.
