Winfred Lawrence Weaver, loving husband, father and grandfather entered into the presence of Jesus on Thursday, June 18th at the age of 77.

Winfred, known by many as “Fred” was born on January 31, 1943, in Phenix City, Alabama.  He moved to East Point, Ga. in the first grade.  He enjoyed playing football and running track.  After graduation, he went to work in downtown Atlanta as a draftsman for Regal Paper Company.  He was drafted into the United States Army in 1966.  Upon returning from Germany, he went to work for the Atlanta Gas and Light Company.  He then worked for Echlin Ignition Parts. In 1971, Winfred and Linda opened a NAPA Auto Parts Store in Chattahoochee, Florida.  Later they sold the store and he went to work at Apalachee Correctional Institution as a Vocational Instructor and joined the Florida Army National Guard.  He was very handy and could fix or build most anything.  He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends in Hiawassee.  He loved the mountains.  He especially loved sitting on the porch and enjoying nature.

He is preceded in death by his parents Frederick and Ruth Weaver and his brother Doug (Frances) Weaver.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years Linda; one son, David of Grand Ridge; one daughter Traci (Chris) Bodine of Thomson, Ga.; and one granddaughter, Megan (Dalton) of Harlem, Ga., as well as many special family members and friends who have touched his life through the years.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for donations to be made to St Jude Children’s Hospital.

Due to the ongoing concern regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, a private service will be held on Monday, June 22, 2020 at McAlpin Funeral Home Chapel, Sneads, Florida, with Rev. Lynn Roberts officiating.
