Annie Jo Blocker was born May 28, 1950, in Quincy, Fla., the daughter of Cleveland and Hortense Blocker. She was raised in the Bettstown Community and graduated from Bainbridge H.S. in 1969. She passed away November 28, 2020. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at 11 a.m. at Franklin Baptist Church with Rev. Gwan Garrison officiating.
Jo began working for the State of Florida in many different roles and positions throughout her career until her retirement. In her free time Jo enjoyed gardening, arts and crafts, and shopping at yard sales.
Jo met and married Joseph Edward Pitman and they made their home in Bainbridge. Jo had no children of her own, but was the “second mom” to all of her nieces and nephews and never met a child that she didn’t love and cherish.
Survivors include her brother, Jeffrey Blocker (Ann) of Grady, Ala. and her sister, Marilyn Blocker of Bainbridge, Ga., and many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and hosts of cousins and friends. Jo was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Pitman; her parents, Cleveland & Hortense Blocker; her brothers, Kenneth Blocker and Danny Blocker; her sisters, Lois Gainey and Joan Chase and her niece Samantha Blocker Hurst.
Independent Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
