Ida Elizabeth Ingram was born February 25, 1940, in Decatur County, Ga., the daughter of Henry and Ethel Williams Ingram. She was a graduate of Attapulgus High School, Class of 1958. She married Kenneth E. Blocker and they continued to make their home in Bainbridge. Mickey was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church and the Recovery UMC Sunday School Class.
Whether you knew her as Mama, Granny, Aunt Mickey or Mrs. Blocker, you knew you were in the presence of a genuine and sincere person. Mickey enjoyed rambling & shopping at Belk with her sister, Bernice, and inevitably would run into people she hadn’t seen in a while. She never failed to inquire about friends and family and offered many prayers for those in need. Family gatherings were as important as oxygen in Mickey’s book. She believed you needed a hot meal and would whip up a cheese toast sandwich for her grandchildren in a skinny minute. Her banana pudding and teacakes were always favorite treats. Mickey kept a routine that included going to the beauty shop and reading the Post-Searchlight every Wednesday. She leaves a legacy of love with the family she held dear.
Survivors include her children, Murry & Audrey Ingram of Colquitt, Ga., Missy & Woody Belcher of Bainbridge, Mandy & Ricky Harrison of Reynoldsville, Ga., and John Blocker of Warner Robins, Ga.; her grandchildren, Michael & Kristen, Beth & Joe, Kristina, April & Kyle, Brian & Mallory, Jacklyn & Alex, Jalyn, Harley, and Cash; her twelve great-grandchildren; and her sister, Bernice Yates. In addition to her parents, Mickey was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth E. Blocker; and her siblings, C.H. Ingram, Annis Griffin, Eunice Howell, David Lee “Hopper” Ingram, and Bobby Carl “PeeWee” Ingram.
The Blocker Family would like to extend their sincere appreciation for the kindness and compassionate care given by Kim Bowles of Integrity Hospice and the unconditional love and support of her daughter-in-law, Audrey, in her last days.
