Weyman Earl Salter, Sr., 75, of Columbiana, Ala., formerly of Albany, Ga. and a native of Climax, passed away Saturday, January 23, 2021.
The graveside memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 28, 2021 at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Conrad Salter and Rev. Tommy McNair officiating. Josh Skipper, Tim Montgomery, A.D. Isler, Bud Heard, Ed Farr, Pat Jackson, Jack Knight, Mike Baltzell, and Wallace Faircloth will serve as honorary pallbearers. Due to the ongoing concerns regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, those attending are asked to maintain the recommended safe social distancing of six feet and/or wear protective masks in accordance with the State of Georgia guidelines.

Weyman Earl Salter was born February 12, 1945 in Bainbridge, Ga., the son of Spencer and Hazel Harrell Salter. He was a graduate of Climax High School and attended Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College. Weyman married Diane Long in 1964 and they made their home in Southwest Georgia, recently moving to Alabama. He retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. Weyman was a deacon and faithful member of Faith Baptist Church in Albany.
Faith and family were the driving forces for Weyman. He loved family gatherings and reminiscing about days gone by. He enjoyed the outdoors especially working in his yard. Weyman was a die-hard Duke Blue Devils basketball fan and believed anything could happen right up to the buzzer. Gospel music was his specialty and many memories were made on the road with Living Water Quartet.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Diane Long Salter; his children, Cheree S. Montgomery and her husband, Tim, of Columbiana, Ala., Weyman E. Salter, Jr. and his wife, Amy, of Bainbridge, Ga., and Tanya S. Skipper and her husband, Josh, of Dothan, Ala.; his siblings, Barbara Ann & Wayne Shepard of Donalsonville, Ga., Rev. Conrad & Paula Salter of Vada, Ga., Hilda Bullington of Panama City, Fla., and Daryl & Barbie Salter of Albany, Ga.; his grandchildren, Zach & Hannah, Wesley & Christine, Macy & Anthony, HannahBeth, Taylor, and Morgan; and his six great-grandchildren. Weyman was preceded in death by his parents.
