If you’ve been to the Earle May Boat Basin recently, you may have noticed a new feature has been added. Mounted by the boat launch ramps is a small weather station. It has been set up in association with WeatherSTEM from Tallahassee, with the goal of providing real-time weather reports.
“The main reason was to be able to get real time data near on the Flint river and get a sky camera view for live feed shots that could be reported on by the weather stations in Tallahassee as well as Albany,” Assistant City Manager Roy Oliver told the Post Searchlight. “We have received great positive feedback about the station and we think it’s a great amenity to the Park.”
The camera mounted on the system both livestreams and captures pictures every minute, which are compiled into a time lapse, which can be found on the Facebook page “City of Bainbridge Boat Basin Weatherstem.”
The livestream, as well as radar maps, lightning strike maps, lunar and solar data, and forecasts can also be found at https://decatur.weatherstem.com/bainbridge. An app version can also be downloaded on the website.
