Kathryn Esthere “Kathy” Mitchell, 56, educator and librarian, passed away Tuesday, August 3, 2021, during her sleep at her parents’ home in Bainbridge, Georgia.
The memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 6, 2021, at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. John Erthein officiating. Due to the ongoing concerns regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, those attending are asked to wear protective masks in accordance with the State of Georgia guidelines.

Kathy was born May 1, 1965, in Greenville, S.C., to James Otto Mitchell and Martha Wilson Mitchell. Miss Mitchell taught at Hutto Middle School in Bainbridge, Ga., and was a media specialist in Gadsden County, Fla. She was a graduate of Bainbridge State College, Ga., and earned her B.S. in education and M.S. in Library Science from the Florida State University, Tallahassee, Fla. She also earned credits for courses at Tallahassee Community College, Fla., and the University of Georgia, Athens, Ga.
She is survived by her parents, Jim and Martha Mitchell of Bainbridge, Ga.; her brother, James Otto (Jimmy) Mitchell, Jr. of Tallahassee, Fla.; and her two nephews, Austin James Mitchell and Evan Joel Mitchell, both of Tallahassee, Fla.
