Alice Virginia Burke was born February 22, 1976, in Quincy, Fla., the daughter of Thomas Daniel & Hazel Brown Burke. She graduated from high school in Malone, Fla. Virginia married David Story in 1996 and they made their home in Jackson County. In 2001 Virginia & David moved to Bainbridge where she attended New Fountainhead Church (Mars Hill).

Virginia was all about family. She learned at an early age everyone you consider “family” is not blood related, or human for that matter. (She loved her dogs like they were her children.) Virginia enjoyed traveling and was always up for a trip to St. Augustine or Helen. Fishing was a favorite pastime except when manatees were present. If there was a manatee in the area, she would sit and watch without a care for who was catching fish.

Survivors include her husband of 25 years, David Story; her children, Samantha Story and Jonathan Story; her mother, Hazel Brown Burke of Sycamore, Fla.; those she considered her second parents, Billy & Edna Grice of Malone, Fla., and Bonnie & Dr. Richard Goff of Marianna, Fla.; her siblings, Willie James Earl Burke, Sr., Melissa Ann Greenhill, Daniel Grice, Emily & Lee Dunaway, and Rachel & Casey Albritton; and her five fur babies, Ursula, Ziggy, Vinny, Candy, and Luna.

Virginia was preceded in death by her father, Thomas Daniel Burke, and her brother, Daniel Cleveland Burke.
