Mr. John David Lane, Sr. of Colquitt died Friday, October 22, 2021, at Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville. A memorial service will be held at a later time.
Mr. Lane was a Public Accountant/Financial Planner. He was of the Methodist faith. He has served as a member of several Miller County organizations and several committees.
Mr. Lane was born and raised in Miller County, and attended Miller County Schools. He was a Miller County Class of 1981 Graduate. While attending school in Miller County, he excelled in many sports including tennis. He went on to play tennis at Bainbridge College and Valdosta State University. He then attended Troy State University on a full tennis scholarship. He graduated in 1985 with a B.S. degree in Business Accounting. After working for several accounting firms, he opened his own firm, Lane and Associates, which he operated for 29 years.
Mr. Lane’s family was of the upmost importance to him. He was known for sense of humor and his love of fishing in the Forgotten Coast. He also enjoyed traveling the last few years with the love of his life, Peyton. He will be remembered fondly by his family, friends, clients, and former tennis students.
Mr. Lane is survived by his wife, Peyton Wilkin Lane of Colquitt; two sons, John David (Aileen Garcia) Lane of Edmond, Okla., and Wilkin Ryan (Alexandra Scott) Lane of Port St. Joe, Fla.; one grandson, Eli Ryan Lane; one brother, Bill Lane of Colquitt; two sisters, Susan (John Ross) Helms of Headland, Ala., and Jan Luquire of Columbus, Ga.; mother-in-law, Haidee “Prissy” Wilkin; Father-in-law, Peter Lawson Wilkin, Sr.; and brother-in-law, Peter Lawson (Allison) Wilkin, Jr. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Winston E. Lane, SR., and Frances Phillips Lane; and one brother, Ed Lane.
