Hazel was born July 14, 1937, in Donalsonville, Georgia. Her parents, Ennis Grady Faircloth and Birdie Vera Williams Faircloth, have preceded her in death. Hazel loved playing basketball in high school and was a talented player. She married James Brunson who passed away in 2011. Hazel loved people and she was loved by everyone who met her, old and young. She had a nickname for everyone she loved. Hazel retired from Southern Bell after 42 years. She enjoyed her time there working as an operator. Hazel enjoyed traveling around the South and working in her yard. Her loved one’s teasingly called her “Krazy Hazy” and reminded you she was “crazy” in a good way. She loved to play Rummy and always won. With an infectious smile and love in her heart she would take up for those who couldn’t take up for themselves. Hazel Brunson will be deeply missed by her family and many, many friends.
Hazel Brunson is survived by her sons, James Alan Brunson and Michael Gene Brunson of Ashford, Alabama; sister, Melanie Hutchins of Bainbridge, Georgia; grandchildren, Rachel Ryerson and husband, John of Rumford, Maine and children, Reese and Hazel, Kathryn Gonzales and husband Benjamin of Orlando, Florida and children Kaylee and Tyler, and Alan Michael Brunson of Orlando; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
