Sara Edith Sanders Yager, age 90, passed away Monday, December 13, 2021, at Bainbridge Health and Rehab in Bainbridge, Georgia. Services for Mrs. Yager will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 17, in the Cadwell Chapel of Cox Funeral Home. The Rev. Steve Poppell and Rev. Jimmy Ausburn will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour before the service, beginning at 1:00 p.m. Mrs. Yager will be interred in Roselawn Memory Gardens.
Sara Edith Sanders was born April 29, 1931, in Decatur County, Georgia to Jacob Sanders and Katherine Blanks Sanders. Sara married Lee F. Yager, who has preceded her in death. She was a lover of the outdoors. Sara loved working in the garden or in her yard. She was a member of Climax Baptist Church and the Senior Adult Ladies Sunday School Class. Sara retired from Amoco Fabrics. She was a sports fan. She enjoyed college football, but the Atlanta Braves were her favorite. Sara even kept a notebook with the stats of each game. She was a wonderful Southern cook and enjoyed cooking and sharing with others. Sara dearly loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Sara Yager was a hard-working, Christian woman, who loved her family and will be deeply missed.
Sara Yager is survived by her sons, Carlton Boyett of Lake Seminole, Georgia and Darryl Boyett (Erin) of Climax, Georgia; brothers, Carl Sanders (Jennie) of Moreland, Georgia, and Rodney Sanders of McDonough, Georgia; grandchildren, Kristi DeMarco, Kevin Boyett, Beau Boyett (Jessica), and Seth Boyett (Kristen); and great-grandchildren, Abigail, Ethan, Jake, and Annaleigh Boyett. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and brothers, Walter, Marion, and J. N. Sanders.
