Emory Askew Phillips, 81, of Bainbridge, Ga., passed away on December 24, 2021, at Bainbridge Memorial Hospital. The graveside funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at Pine Forest Baptist Church Cemetery. Family will receive friends at 1:00 PM Wednesday, December 29 at the church until service time. Rev. Kenneth Cloud and Pastor Jim McIntosh officiating the service. Faith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements (850-539-4300 or www.faithfuneralhome.com) Mrs. Phillips was born October 27, 1940, in Decatur County, Ga., to the late Alford R. Askew and the late Rosa Lee Wimberly Askew. She was a life long resident of Decatur Co. She was a faithful member of Pine Forest Baptist Church, holding many offices in the church over the years. She retired from Shaw Industries in 1998 as a Lab technician. She loved to cook, she always looked forward to canning season. Most of all she loved her family. She is survived by her sons Ronald “Ronnie” Keith Phillips (wife Tracie) of Bainbridge, and Tracy Darin Phillips (wife Holli) of St Johns, Fla.; three grandchildren, Megan Deanna Phillips of Bainbridge, Joshua Dalton Phillips and Avery Daniel Phillips both of St Johns, Fla.; a sister, Alice Vann (husband Terry) of Dahlonega, Ga. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 63 years, Eugene “Gene” Phillips; a son Kenneth “Danny” Daniel Phillips; her granddaughter Maci Phillips; her brother Glenn H. Askew; and sister, Mary A Day.
